C.H Smith Revitalisation
CH Smith was a major community construction project undertaken in the heart of Launceston, Tasmania.
In a blend of heritage revitalisation and new construction Abelwood Tasmanian Oak played an important role in bringing the C.H Smith building into a new era. Both Abelwood Tasmanian Oak flooring, and wall and ceiling lining was showcased in exemplary modern design by Artas Architects across the development which was executed perfectly by Fairbrother.
Taking 22 months to complete and featuring three restored heritage-listed buildings. Fairbrother, the building company behind this extensive revitalisation said that with the project came many challenges. From the initial in-ground works to working around the heritage-listed buildings.
These heritage buildings were almost past the point of repair, but with sensitive design work and careful execution these buildings have been brought back to life and are a real focal point of the project. Another focal point inside the building is the Abelwood Tasmanian Oak features used throughout.
Abelwood Tasmanian Oak was the perfect choice for flooring, lining and joinery across the project. Featured throughout the many communal spaces of C.H Smith our Tasmanian Oak lining provides strong lines and texture to create a unique interior aesthetic. The timeless colouring of the Tasmanian Timber also brings with it a much needed warmth to the vast contemporary spaces it is featured within.
